Devotees embrace new dress code
VIJAYAWADA: With the new dress code in place, women came to seek darshan at Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devastanams in traditional attire, such as sarees.The temple management provided sarees for foreign devotees who visited on Tuesday.Executive officer Koteswaramma interacted with devotees in queue on Tuesday. “We are happy with the devotees’ response. We haven’t sent anyone back since it was the first day of the dress code implementation,”she said.The management arranged a saree counter for devotees at Mahamandapam , As Reported By TOI.
According to the Newspaper,“Devotees who come to the temple in western wear can purchase a saree at counter arranged in the temple.Cost of a saree is fixed as 100 which can be considered as ‘vasthra prasadam,’ said EO Koteswaramma.Meanwhile, the rush of devotees continued on the fourth day of Bhavani Deeksha Viramana on Tuesday. Around 1 lakh devotees got darshan and offered special prayers. Temple authorities are expecting a huge crowd on Wednesday as it is the last day for relinquishment of Bhavani Deeksha.
