Govt fete for Sivaji birthday
Chennai, June 29:
The museum near Anna Samadhi established in memory of our Dravidian leader and former chief minister Annadurai will be renovated at a cost of Rs. 4 crores. Refurbishing the museum, relaying the granite stones on the payments was well as the lawns will be part of the work to be undertaken,
His other announcements include:
*Honouring the freedom fighter and social activist Ramasamy Padayachiar his birthday on September 16 will be celebrated by the government.
*Similarly the birthday of legendary actor Sivaji Ganesan on October 1 will be celebrated by the government to commemorate the yeoman service rendered by him to the tinsel world.
Facelift for Poompuhar
Government has allotted Rs.1.5 crores for giving a facelift to the Poompuhar showrooms in Chennai, Kolkatta, Tiruchi and Tanjore. Poompuhar will conduct its ‘Handifest’, an international exhibition every year in Chennai at a cost of Rs.2 crores in cooperation with ITPO and craft export agency EPCH which will give an opportunity to boost sale of handicrafts .
*Jayalalithaa who was keen in caring for the welfare of journalists had raised the journalist pension from Rs.8000 to Rs.10000 and the family pension from Rs.4750 to Rs.5000. Edapadi said his government will raise the pension eligibility norm by raising the gratuity ceiling from Rs. 2 lakhs to Rs.3 lakhs.
*Also the ceiling for receiving aid for treatment from the journalist welfare fund by those seriously ill has been raised from Rs.50,000 to Rs.one lakh.
